Day 37:

Woke up this morning and hit the complimentary breakfast buffet at the hotel pretty hard, which included waffles, french toast, bagels, fruit, juice and oatmeal. Stocked up on a plate of food for the road as well as a muffin and a blueberry bagel. Wanted to make sure I was getting my moneys worth. The way out of town was treacherous. 30 miles of traffic and traffic lights with a headwind. I was not to happy and biking pretty slow. Got into my groove later on in the day and the winds shifted making it easier. The route became very scenic about 40 miles into the ride. There were better less traveled roads and I was biking along lake Erie the whole time which looks allot like the ocean. I had 3 flat tires today. One was a slow leak pinch flat on my rear tire, another was a piece of glass in the rear tire and the last one was on my trailer. Finally made it into Erie Pennsylvania at around 5:00, worked real hard towards the end because I wanted to make it to wheels bike shop before they closed where I had a care package from my good friend kyle waiting. They didn't open until 10:00 on Saturday morning the next day and by then I hoped to be 40 miles into my ride to Niagara falls. I asked the bike shop employees if they knew of a good park nearby that I could camp at. One employee drew me a map to one, the other mechanic offered me his floor at his house. The catch was that it was 12 miles away out into the country. By this point of the day I had 116 miles in and was reluctant to bike 12 more. But I took him up on it. He seemed like a super cool guy and the thought of a shower was enough to motivate me on. We stopped at a grocery store where I grabbed some Gatorade a sub sandwich and then pasta for later. Just after we left there about 5 miles into the ride is where I had my third flat of the day. To his House I was questioning if a shower was worth all of this trouble, there was allot of climbing to get out to where he lived and my legs were pretty shot. But finally we made it out there, and it was all defiantly worth it, a home cooked meal a shower and a soft floor. He was of great assistance to me with helping me route find in new york, where I will be going off route for about 60 miles to visit a friend in new york. Thinking about finish this trip anywhere from June 30th to July 3rd.

Miles biked today: 128

Miles biked total: 3040

Day 36: Rest Day

Took today off. John and I went to the public library in downtown Cleavland to update our blogs. We went out for dinner at a sushi restaurant and had a few beers. Tomorrow we are splitting paths, he will be heading southeast through Pennsylvania and I will begin heading northeast towards new york.
